about

[they] filmed it, "so I didn't have to remember it myself".

The ten thousand cups of coffee sitting ten thousand days in the muted light of your favorite café. Hearing the same playlist... every conversation blurs into repetitions of insecurity, frustration, and the shape of memory.

repetition and doubling -- an uncanny pair --- double and repeat each other, sifting away sand, revealing the heart of every "uncanny" phenomena: memory.

The weird and the eerie allow us to see the inside from the perspective of the outside -- to "read" the café as tea leaves, or the faces we see in the moon. A grin, grimace, or tear. What is Luna Giaconda hiding from us -- What are *we* hiding. What was once a hot cup has cooled. It was full, now empty. The Needs decide it should be refilled.

retreat, repeat into an eerie cry. As Folklore is retold and runs from the "shiny place" -- reverie saves us. As we day dream of our own memories, the cogito becomes synonymous as déjà vu. Our *duration* appears as always present -- our existence through time.

my cup is cold when it was once hot. in a blink. one to another. a small edit. but the smell of burnt coffee and shriek of hot steam strike me like a match.

Our reflection/reflecting on memories can seal us into the haunted café, as reminder, trauma, the unfinished list. Reflections can too transcend our spirit, as the painting of mirrors experiences via the artist's eye an oscillation between physical pigment and the sign of a silvered mirror. Through mirrors we see ourselves.

This album is a multiplicitous engagement of familiar sounds and outside influences, most luminous of which: Mark Fisher's "The Weird and the Eerie", The Caretaker's "Selected Memories From the Haunted Ballroom", Charlotte Wells "Aftersun", Tom Waits "Mule Variations", and Taylor Swift's "Folklore".

this is music from the haunted café. dry and dusty. "Photography is death," said The Actor, "editing cuts away time".
