following the solar morning, night fell. an artifical night of filtered plastic light, a translucent lens over the sun. i walked along the beach in a purple twlight. i wasn't sure where the cycle began... night followed day followed night. pink followed blue and it all ran together. Until on that lonely beach which circled the world, I met a man.
"Would you like to swim to the sunset?", the man said, offering me a mission.
I nodded. I needed a reason.
The man gestured with all three arms towards the sea, and said, "I have always preferred the reflection of life to life itself."
I pinched my brow, and breathed, "Why?"
The man held his mouth tight. I squinted at his cracked lips. His cheeks puffed out then he suddenly blew a mouthful of cold sand into my eyes,
I turned and ran into the ocean. I dunked my head beneath the sweet water and rubbed my eyes clean.
Blinking, I looked back, and the man was gone.
Having no reason to return to shore, I swam out to sea, towards the floating sunset.
