cherry brain is a collection of my sparkliest, most progressive, and favoritist singles from the past two years. these are labors, these are loves, they are golden bars of my life.

dialogue with a new mother first appeared on it's eponymous ep in 2018, this new version has been updated and revitalized by additional instrumentation and a new mix. i added new instruments and textures which i made while performing this song for over a year. sean alexander added additional performances of sampled flutes and percussion, as well as support while working on the song. this song is about a conversation between a woman and her mother. the daughter is preparing to have a child of her own and her mother is sharing wisdom about what she has learned from her own motherhood.

fool zero is a bag of glitter, tied to a stick, and thrown over your shoulder as you step out into the world. it is pure energy and ideas, expressing the tarot card the fool (number 0). representing youthful excitement and vigor, marred by naïveté and inexperience. the fool begins their life, optimistic...

cherry brain is about people not respecting you, the darkness of being unsupported, and horrors of small town life. someone with a cherry brain is sweet and thinks they're special, but is an idiot.

virulent strain was written a year after a relationship fell apart on new years eve during a trip to san francisco.

theft by daylight is a wild and aggressive retelling of the hero's journey. from techno-inspired verses, with muffed and heavily processed, robotic vocals, to the dream-like and droney choruses, until the final explosion of guitar at the end of the song. the fool has experienced freedom and met heartbreak. they have been crushed, confused and lost. They have returned enlightened.
